Hi Paul I found that my g grandfather had been married twice but I had already "allocated" 2 of his children to my g grandmother. I corrected it by deleting those children & re entering them to the correct mother. Pat |

Thanks Pat. My problem is the son has children, G'children and GG children. I don't want to delete all these to put the problem right. Paul |

Paul Try emailing support, there probably is a way, well I hope so for your sake! They should be able to guide you through it. Rachel |

Paul, If you find the answer please do put up another message! I too have had the exact same problem. Unfortunately I had to delete my whole tree yesterday as there seemed to be no other way around it. So here is the warning to everyone..... Check, double check your findings. I will never put in info again without the back up of certs to be certain. Good luck. |

Have you tried editing the name? This worked for me without deleting the tree. However not sure it works when there are other children but worth a try. |

Hi Paul.I tried all the instructions several times but without success. Then called support twice. In the end they said they would do it for me if I told them the errors. Sent them the info and they sent me back another set of the same instructions but didn't correct it. Some help !!!!. As user friendly as a cornered rat. Think I'll delete the lot and start again |

It looks as if there is no way round this problem. I have e-mailed the site managers via "Contact Us" and "feedback" to point out my problem and that it is a problem shared by a number of members. I have requested they add a "Detach" option where there is currently the options to Edit and Delete. I think it may help if others make the same suggestion. Paul |

Paul Did not realise there were further generations involved in your problem. With my g grandparents, once I had discovered the first wife & input her details I would have liked to put the wives in the order of marriage. Contacted GC Support who told me that it is not possible & they would have to remain in the order in which they had been input. Moral of this, make sure there were no previous marriages before inputting information. Pat |
