I AM TOTALLY STUCK I CANT FIND OUT MY GRANDADS HISTORY WHEN I EVEN LOOKED IN THE BMD INDEX THERE WAS NO ENTRY I LOOKED IT UP ON THE 1837SITE AND KNEW HIS BIRTHDAY I RAN OUT OF CREDITS/UNITS SO EVEN THOUGH I KNOW HIS DATE OF DEATH I DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO SEARCH THAT AND NOW I AM STUCK TO THE ANSWER .HAS HE BEING BORN ILLEGITAMET I CANT EVEN FIND THE FIRST NAMES OF HIS PARENTS ALTHOUGH I KNOW A FEW SIBLINGS NAMES BUT HAVE NO DOB ADVICE WOULD BE APPRIECIATED CHEERS.........i did know birth year |

Caroline, If you have dates why not just send these to the local register office where the birth or death took place (providing you know this). They don't need the index nos and they will tell you if they don't have the details. Marion |

Have you looked for his marriage? If you could find this it would have something in the "fathers name" box - even if it is blank or unknown at least you wouldn't be any worse off! Unless you have actually seen his birth certificate, bear in mind that you only have someone's word for his age. It is always best to be flexible and search a good few years either side. Remember to check the census too if you can, or ask for a look-up. Good luck. Maz. XX |

Have you tried IGI website? Can be useful but needs a lot of searching. May help you with others. |
