Hi May, I'm afraid I can't find James and Elizabeth. Have you managed to find them on the 1901 census? I looked on the 1881 and also checked for them and did find a Robert Nesbitt with younger brother James in an industrial school in Gosport. I'll have another try later |

Hi Lucy, Thank you very much for the information. I don't think Caroline Morley is the one I'm looking for as her father's name according to 1881 is Richard. I never thought to try Morley instead of Morland. Laurie |

Hi, I had seen Cornelius Round in the 1901 census, but he was born Derby and the 1881 it says Dudley Stafford? I think the Ida/ Ada is right, 1881 says she was born Darlington. I'm meant to be stripping wall paper but all I can think about is names and places!!!!!!! Don't know how you are doing it all, can you remember your family names? Thanks so much for looking, Jo. |

Me again! I'm not sure how to access the 1881 census, or the LDS site (actually, I'm not sure what the LDS site is). I'm pretty new to this game, I got all the info I have off of my cousin Eric, who got his info from tombstones. Icky poo. That and what we know from all the aunts and uncles. I'm off to find out how George Henry Lee died, actually I know how he died, but I'm off to see the article from the 1936 paper. And I'm going to do those census searches for Canada. This is my fun day, the rest of the week is work! Have a great weekend if I don't talk to you before! |

Hi Lucy, Thanks for doing that look up for me. I don't think any of them are my relations by the information I've got, but I will double check with my older sister. Anyway thanks again, Regards Bernie. |

Amanda, Any idea where Thomas Phippen was born or which area I should be looking in. I haven't found anything immediately so I need to play around with the name; a location would be a great help. |

Amanda, I don't know of a way to find the details of those records without paying. You might be lucky and find some of the records on the LDS site. Have you tried looking for Elizabeth Toft (the one in the workhouse) on the 1881 census? |

Dearest Lucy, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! One one thousand, two one thousand! You are a godsend. Honestly. I have some great info I can draw on now, thanks solely to you, but one question (or maybe two). Spoke to dear old auntie Alice, only one of Annie's children left alive. She reminded me of the fact that Annie was not born a Toft, but was born in the Coventry or Stratford area. Now, there are three born in 1876. I'd like to apply to see the records of all three because our Annie was born out of wedlock, but it looks like it's going to cost me. Is it possible to find out the details of the records without paying for the copies? Now here's the interesting part. Do you see where there's an Elizabeth Toft in the Aston Union workhouse, the imbecile? Well it turns out that Annie's mother always claimed that her daughter was a member of a well to do family. Annie's mum had been a maid or such in a household when she became preggers. Auntie Alice said that for a time she was "put away" for bothering the richies. That would explain why our Annie is living with her aunt in Birmingham. Smells like a cover up to me. Any large or royal houses in Coventry or Stratford upon Avon/Stratford? You know, it always made me wonder that my gran and all her sisters distinctly resembled the Queen! Thanks again Lucy, you're so wonderful!!! |

Hi, so sorry........ you certainly did look up John Shaw!!!!!! My memory isn't as it should be and I put it in the wrong folder!!! I think John Round had died in 1901 so he is not in the 1901 census, not sure what happend to Mary either. I did find a James Black living in Stockton in 1901. Johns real name was Jacob, like his sons, perhaps he has gone by that? Thanks for looking though. Best wishes Jo |

I'll keep looking incase they're hiding somewhere! |
