Hi Lilian, There are only a few William Lindon (+variations) in the country about the right age. I've taken a look at them all and no luck I'm afraid. The two most likely are William A Linden, 31, Shipbroker, b. Liverpool and living in London and William J Lindon, 29, head, born and living in Coventry. However, the Coventry schedule for William is absolutely unreadable. I would assume this has happened when they've scanned it - you could try and find someone with the 1891 census on disk if you think it will help but I think you may be correct in assuming William is deceased in 1891. |

Hi Lucy, William John Lindon was married in 1882 but his wife remarried 28th March 1891. As I haven't found William's death in the St Cath's indexes, I was hoping you would be able to find him alive and well living somewhere else! It's a bit of a mystery. Can you find any William Lindon's aged about 32 living anywhere? Lilian |

Patricia, Have found them at last! They are indexed as Rowlan (why that didn't come up on a soundex I don't know). It is definitely not Rowlands on the schedule either but trust me this has got to be one of the worst handwritings in the world. As far as I can make out the details are: RG12/4477 Folio 89 page 21 Swansea 31 Orange Street George Rowlan, head, 61, sailmaker, Somerset Bristol Jane Rowlan, wife, 49, horsekeeper, Ilfracombe Mary Rowlan, daur, sing, 20, dressmaker?, Swansea Flossie Rowlan, daur, sing, 17, Swansea Anne Rowlan, daur, sing, 15, Swansea Georgina? Davies, g/daur, 3, at school, Swansea Thomas Hughes, lodger, wid, 58, basket maker, ? William H ?, lodger, 34, sugar boiler, London David Richards, lodger, 19, basket maker, If you'd like I can save the schedule as an image and email it to you. |

Hi Lucy, Thanks for your help in finding Edward Ralph. Have you had a chance to look for William (John) Lindon? He would be about 32, may have been born in Liverpool but I don't know. He was a seaman so could have been anywhere at the time of the census. Lilian |

Hello again, What I have is George Rowland aged 61 b. Bristol, Jane b. ilfracombe, Mary,Anne and some others. There address is 31 Orange Street, Swansea, I've seen them on Micro fiche but can't read it. I know the feeling about the decorating I should be doing some, but thought I'd check on here for a few minutes but it turns into hours, Thanks again for all your help. Hope you will be able to find them!! Pat |

Pat, Cannot find your Rowlands anywhere. Have tried soundex, looked in England and a multitude of combinations. There was only one Rowland or similar born Devon in Swansea and that was Elizabeth Rowlands husband James. Do you have any ages or children's names that might be with them? |
