I found 12 William James in the 1891 who were born in Bermondsey. I checked the 6 who were born between 1873 and 1890, but not one of them had a father who was a publican, beer seller, or anything. The nearest was a 1 yr old whose father was General Dealer. If you are certain he was born in Bermondsey, then I can't see how I can help any more. I did try just typing in William James, but got 3,014 results. |

T, hopefully the pub where your ancestor was born, will be recorded on his birth certificate. Do you have William's marriage or death certificate? Do you know Roanda's maiden name? Or where/when they were married? Could someone do an 1891 Census Lookup for Teresa plz and try to narrow things down? P |

There are 40 William James born in London 1875 - 1879. I am not too hot with my London Boroughs and Counties. Where would Bermondsey be classed as? |

Oh... you posted a separate thread stating his name. William Beer James. I like his parents sense of humour. I found 2 on the 1901 Census... William James Aged 17 bn Bermondsey, London Civil Parish St Paul's Deptford Occ Sight Carman for Leeth Warehouse William James Aged 24 bn London Bermondsey Civil Parish Camberwell Occ Merchants Clerk Do you know what he did for a living? If you continue to be stuck, then order his death certificate. It will give you his age at death. Also you could order his marriage certificate, which would contain his age, address, occupation & fathers name. |
