Irish Ancestors (North and South)

I see from the board that a lot of people are looking for Irish forebears. I have also seen mention of GRO Dublin numerous times. One thing I want to mention is records held in Northern Ireland. A lot of the records in the Public Records Office in Belfast cover areas of what is now Southern Ireland. I know, I have found a number of my wife's ancestors there Take a look at their web site (proni.gov.uk), you may find that they could be holding the records you are looking for. It's worth a try!! Thanks Shirley. I forgot to add that PRONI does have a form of partnership with the National Archives in Dublin, but that is about as much as I know at the moment. I wiil try and find out more. Paul |

UPDATE AND CORRECTION!!! PRONI site should have read proni.nics.gov.uk. The joint site can be found under archivesns.net/records (with the www. etc) Paul |
