downloading Gedcom from IGI

Do as Marian suggests, then d/load into your tree. Just be careful though as it will duplicate names. saves a lot of typing though. |

I recently installed family tree maker and then decided to try the gedcom files after reading that you could view them in a word program. I found that Family tree maker automatically associated itself with the gedcom file. I don't know if other family tree software does this or not though. Lorraine |

Yes, I have done this. Just pick a folder on your PC & make up a file name when asked. |

On the family search IGI web site it is apparently possible once a batch number has been found to download the gedcom file - has anyone done this - I have tried but it asks me where I want to load it to - the short answer to this is I don't know! Please could anyone tell me in simple words? Thanks in advance. |
