Can't help it, had to add more. Going through the Canadian Census I found a Fanny Wiggle who married a Bottom. Fanny Wiggle-Bottom. Can you imagine? Well, how about the poor soul named Fanny Waysaton? How awful to be named that! Hope she wasn't a very large lady.

What a laugh! Had to look up more of these silly names, they're hilarious! Hubby James wanted to add his own, seems his father may not have been a Milroy but possibly a Hole. There was a lodger by that name at his grandparents in the late 30's, who knows what went on. But anyways, James' Dad's name is actually Harry Milroy, but if he wasn't a Milroy he'd be a Harry Hole. Isn't that terrible? Also in High School I knew a girl named Crystal Chanda Lear, and my Dad knew a Harry Crapper. Mum and I have been chuckling about if they had actually named me Candace. If I had married an Eaton I would have been Candy Barr-Eaton, or possibly Candy Barr-Melton. Too much.

My g.g.g.g grandmother was Hester Goose,and I can picture exactly what she looked like.

Been to busy having a giggle at these names to add my own. I have a Florence Nightingale in my family. Not too good at the caring proffesion though. Liked her wine a bit too much. She could have done with the real 1 to look after her. Sarah.

I had a teacher called Bob Downs. I also have a friend called Amanda Louise Key - fine until she signs her name A L Key. Went to a race night and one of the horses was called Poppy Tupper!

No relation, but there was a girl at my school (years ago) called Ina Bucket!! Maybe she is related to Hyacinth!! Unfortunately she was a high achiever and her name is displayed for posterity. Maz XX

Well just to add to this wonderful list. My maiden name was Carter. In this wonderful era of hyphenating names. Feel sorry for me....either way you hyphenate it!!!!! When my husband proposed to me I rang my mum and said "I'm gonna be a Hoar". Mum was delighted...she bragged to all her friends!! As far as family tree names...my hubby's aunty in all truthfulness is named Mona....(work it out kids!! poor lady) Cheers...had fun laughing at this Jenny (Hoar-Carter...naaaa or Carter-Hoar...I don't think so either...lol)

Haven't uncovered any really silly names in my tree, yet, but I do know that when my mum was pregnant she wanted to call me Candace, which really doesn't sound to silly until you shorten it to Candy. My father didn't like the idea of my name being Candy Barr. So I got Mandy Barr instead. Other than that my mother's family were all Halls, and my Grandad used to answer the phone "Hall's Hall of Halls, who in the Hall do you want?"

Whilst researching my family found someone actually named their child Napoleon Bonaparte Solomon!!! This was back in mid 1800's. Someone else added message that Ephraim was odd name but actually very common back in the day! Def had a laugh reading all these names but reality is someone has to live with that please please think before you name your child something bizarre, saying that my cousin just named child Levi! Why oh Why.
