Hi On the 1881 census one of my relatives is listed as being born in llansarnpaid, Denbigh. Does anyone know if this is spelt correctly or where it is? Thanks, Jen. |

It sounds very much like LLansantfraid which is on the coastal road A487 about 10 miles south of Aberystwyth. There are 4 others in Powys. Jim |

Have a look at http www gazetteer-wales [co] [uk] There is a list of place names and also another one of postal addresses. Try a search on the mapping site slike streetmap co uk and GetMap Try a general WWW search. It is not unusual for Welsh places names to get mangled in the Census! Martin |
