Where have you been looking? I couldn't find my grandparents marriage for ages, but took myself off to the local Records Office and physicaly trawled through mountains of microfiche until I found them - one year after the birth of my father!!! I hadn't realised that they weren't married when dad was born. It took ages, but it was wonderful when I found it and eventually got a copy of their marriage cert. as it gave a great deal of info. It's no good just depending on finding things on the net - there comes a time when you have to slog things out I think. If you know where they lived make a start there - or else use the 1837 site (but you have to pay for this). All the best. Jacqui |

There's a Charles H Baker aged 21 on the 1881 census, living with his wife Jessie Baker, aged 21, and two children John E Baker aged 1 yr and Orlando Baker aged 7 weeks. Could this be them? Update:- Both the children were born in Birmingham. Assuming this could be them, I've found an entry on Ancestry for a Charles Henry Baker married in Birmingham in 1879. The transcription of this year is obviously incomplete as his is the only entry shown. December Qtr. Vol. 6d, Page 99. Might be worth having a look at the actual register? Janet |

No, sorry Patricia. That's what I meant when I said the transcription was incomplete. His was the only name on that page to have been transcribed. You either need to have a look at the actual register or order a certificate and hope for the best! Hope this helps Janet |
