Hello Chris - I don't suppose there are any references to the 'Botton' fairground family? My grandfather was William Botton who married Ann Horrigan (she was definitely from Deptford). I can't find any references to the 'Botton's fairgrounds' anywhere. Can you help? |

Chris - please would you look for 'Greens Stores'. They were a chain of family grocers, and mostly in the East End of London and Essex - but it is just possible they might have had a branch/interest in Deptford. Be nice to know - my dad was a delivery driver for them in the 1930/40 's before joining up. Rosi |

Hi I have a guidebook for Depford for the years 1938 -39 as well as local information it has a lots of display adverts for local shops and businesses. Many of these advert contain the names owners of the shops and businesses. If you have relitives who lived in the area I would be willing to look for the name and send you a scan of the advert -most of the adverts are A5 size and would make an interesting addition to your family history. Yours Chris |
