I agree with that Elton. It would save looking at all the ones you haven't got only to discover you STILL haven't got them. Lynda

There are graphs of each section to show how far advanced or otherwise they are with transcribing. It doesn't seem to follow years, don't know what method they use, because I found some entries have been transcribed twice!!

Hi Valerie; What you have probably found when you have come across entries transcribed twice, is what is known as a 'second keying'. This entry is usually in bold type and means that that particular page (enrty) had been transcribed again by a different transcriber so is correct to the best of FREE's ability and trueness of the original. They do this with every set (so I believe) as a safegauard against transcriber errors. Also the transcribed entries are checked when there are discepancies or unreadable bits. The transcribers put in a certain keystroke to indicate a problem and then these are referred to others to check out. I think the second keying is done by very experianced volunteers. HTH Sonja

Hi, I don't know if this would be any help but I transcribe for free BMD and if we put which one we have just transcribed would it help. Anyway this is what I have just finished. 1884 DEATHS registered April, May and June BAY-BEA Page 20 May

Just checked for updates , but instead of updates there were missing entries. Well at least 1 missing entry. I had decided to extract all entries for a certain surname and recorded them last month. This time one entry was gone. I know I got this entry from Freebmd last time. Totally confused now

Well, I emailed admin with the above problem (missing entries) and received a reply from someone saying 'I have also found that before but since I had no explanation I just learned from experience and print them when I find them. I will be interested to learn if there is a reason for it.' Well, that doesn't exactly help. All these kind people out there are transcribing entries and some of them are getting lost. I have now tried email problem to the only other address on the website - will keep you updated if I get a reply.

Nina, thank you for that message - I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't find something that I'd found once before! Now I know its not just me I feel a lot better about it. And yes, I did write it down when I found it the first time - I just can't find where I wrote it. Jan.

May Slater It doesn't really help us telling everyone which sheets we have just transcribed (I transcribe aswell) as they don't immediately get put on the FreeBMD site. I think they only go on when the site is next updated and even then it seems to go on in some sort of order so... nice idea but I don't think it works.
