Hi, Try the Scottish GRO index if you are sure he isn't in the England and Wales one. Maybe she was sent elsewhere in Scotland rather than to London. Gwynne |

My father was born in Feb 1940 and given up for adoption. I believe his mother was Doris or Dorothy Sinclair, unmarried. He was told that he was born in London, she had been sent there by her family from Scotland to have the baby and avoid disgrace as it was in those days. I have searched on the 1837online site under both the name his birth mother gave him and the name he was given by his wonderful adoptive parents, but he is not there. He has had some serious health problems in the past 9 years and for the sake of his grandchildren we want to see if we can find some information. Can anyone help with info, pointers etc? |
