I' m new to this game and have no idea how to proceed. I'm trying to find my husband's grandparents birth cert. i have my father in laws birth cert. info as follows John Joseph Shanahan b. 27/01/1916 New Lane, Carrick on Suir, Co Tipperrary father David Shannahan - Willow Merchant : mother Margaret Shannahan nee Greany : grandmother Mary Shannahan. ref no: S No. 115/21 no. 208 Superintendent : Anna Beary Clonmel office. Any help would be gratefully appreciated Annette |

Hi Annette, All I have found so far is: Bassetts County Tipperary 1889 Mrs My (which could be short for Mary) Shanahan, Spirit Retailer, Green Street. It is in the Roscea directory page 325. Do you have the name of Mary's husband? Did any of your family move to America at anytime as a lot of Shanahans seem to move there. Laurie Also alternate ways of spelling are: O'Shanahan, Shahan, Gilshenan, Giltenan to name a few. I did find a Shanahan website it was okay but not much help for searching. I will have another look tomorrow night. Laurie |
