I have been to the 6th floor and that was amazing, the only problem is that you get side tracked and try to look at everything at once. It is a shame that they dont start getting all the info on web sites, so of the other cities and towns have really good resources online, cornwall is amazing.

The PR's for St Martins are in Birmingham Library. If youv'e not been before, it's worth a visit just for the experience!!

I have brought a Vital Records index from Ebay just waiting for it to arrive, i will post a message as soon as i get it, you never know, will probably take a day or 2 to sus how to use it effectivley though. I have quite a few rellies that were christened at St Martins church Bull ring, I couldnt believe that i could not find an on line site for them, the info i did find is disappointing.

Don't talk to us about Lord Wood Road, they had all the GRO indexes and the 1891 Warwickshire census from Redditch, we were not impressed! Some of my biggest sticking points are a birth in 1866, but cannot find the parents marriage (might not have got married) and not found them on the 1871 census yet, being Nottingham doesn't help. And trying to find someone born about 1826, who on the 1881 census gives his place of birth as Birmingham, which is why I am trawling through the 1841 census. I'm in the Jewellery Quarter at the moment.

I have not tryed the LDS place in Lords Wood road yet, you are doing really well, i bet its getting really hard though. Thats all the fun, Yes C Brom is where i have liquid refreshments, got to keep sane some how.

Do I take it that your not chasing the name Smith? Have got back to the early 1700's on one branch. We have an LDS history centre in Redditch so can hire PR's and census. There are some GRO indexes, but most of mine have been found in Birmingham Library or Worcester RO. Saw the 1881 census on fiche and CD before it came online, and if you can't find someone on the internet version, it is always worth checking our the fiche. I don't tend to rely on the IGI too much as I have found some entries incorrect or missing, and of course there are very few death records. Was up your neck of the woods a few weeks ago, my uncle lives in Castle Brom, got in touch with him a couple of years ago after not seeing him for 20 years!

I have been lucky as i have got lots of info online, most of my tree so far has been easy, i am back on 1 line to early 1800s.

At least you haven't too far to travel to the wonderful Central Library! Wish more of mine were in Warwickshire, they might have ended up in Birmingham, but they usually started somewhere else.

About 6 months, most of my family were from Warwickshire, but i am helping 2 of my friend and there rellies came from all over. LOL

How long have you been searching, and whereabouts are you looking?

Why not send to the local register office, if the information is not right they won't send the cert nor will they charge you for looking. Ros

Terry Info on a death cert is date of death and place, age , occupation or wife of ?, cause of death, signature, description and residence of informant. when registered and on more recent ones ( I can't remember from when)the date of birth as well. Margaret

Patricia I don't think you need to order them both. If you order online you can specify checking points. Put the date of birth in that. Or, order from the local register office at Wigan and either write the date of birth in your letter or phone them first and explain. Margaret
