Can anyone tell me the address of the site which allows me to order bmd certificates via the internet, I have inadvertently deleted my favourites?

No, that's the site for finding the index number. To order the address is www(.)col(.)statistics(.)gov(.)uk/ remove brackets Margaret

One disadvantage is that they stick by the rules and charge you a search fee if they do not find the certificate that you asked for. Local offices tend to be helpful with their searches and I have never been charged if they have not found one. Martin

If you order from local office and put your phone number on the covering letter, they will usually phone you with any queries.

Margaret, I order my certificates via 1837, there is a sub heading on the left hand side to do so.I know it takes you to the other site, but I use this link after I have found someone on the 1837.

I think they both cost £7.00. But if you are lucky enough to live near the library you are researching, you can photocopy the film for whatever they charge at the library for a photocopy. I did one for 35p. What a bargain. Lynda

The only difference is that local offices like a stamped addressed envelope. I have been finding that many now contact via EMail if there are any queries about which certificate is the right one. Martin
