Jacqueline My grandfather was in the Boer War & these are the medals he received :- Queens South Africa Medal with clasp Orange Free State Transvaal & Defence of Ladysmith King's South Africa Medal 1901 to 1902 He served with the "Glorious" Gloucesters so other Regiments probably had different campaign medals. Hope this helps. Pat

Hello - would you m,ind telling me which medal you have, and whether it is related to your family member? The reason I am interested is that my grd-father was possibly involved in the boar war and I would like to know which campaign medals were available to soldiers then. Grateful to any info you have. Jacqui

Service records of British Regular Soldiers should be in WO97 at the PRO Kew (now National Archive) but you will have to go there and make a search. The staff are very helpfull and willing to explain how to find what you are looking for. Medal Rolls for Kings and Queens South African Medals are in WO100, may contain some personal details such as date of discharge, death and the home address. Happy hunting!! Sue.
