Andy, I have just downloaded the Google Toolbar. I had to upgrade IE to Version 6 first to get the Pop-up Stopper. Thanks for your help. Lynne |

Lynne, To remove the Google toolbar, click on your desktop Start button, choose Settings and then Control Panel. From there go to Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down the list until you see Google Toolbar For Internet Explorer. Click on the Add/Remove button and that should uninstall the toolbar program. Downloading the software and installing it is straightforward too. Andy. |

Andrew, I have been thinking about downloading the Google toolbar since I read about it last week. Is it easy to get rid of it if I don't like it? Crista, Thanks for your advice but I'm not sure how to do what you suggest. I have a Firewall but I just 'Deny' everthing that is trying to access my computer. How do I block the NetBios? Lynne |

Sally, The preferred method to rid your system of this annoyance is to block NetBIOS ports 135, 137, 138. and 139 through the firewall. Stopping the Messenger service is not recommended as some Anti-virus applications use Messenger alerts to notify you. Crista |

I've got a 'Pop-Up-Stopper' which works brilliantly with pop-up ads. What is doesn't stop are the endless Windows Messenger Service pop-ups. They're driving me nuts! Can anyone tell me how to stop those? I've gone in to Control Panel and turned off everything that refers to Messenger Service - but they still keep coming. My sanity is at stake here... |

Maggy, Ignore also any ads (pop-up or otherwise) that disguise themselves as Microsoft Error messages. They usually say something like, "Your system is not protected" or words to that effect and has the MS Windows error icon (red circle with a white 'X') next to it. These are not genuine error messages. Andy. |

I followed the advice of a GC member, a few weeks ago and downloaded Google's toolbar, which houses a Pop-Up ad blocker. So far, I haven't had any complaints. You can download it from here: http://toolbar(.)google(.)com |

Go to your servers main site ie BT, Blue Yonder or AOL ect and they will give you a recommended pop blocker that works well with their products. |

Does anyone get a box in the top left hand corner of the screen telling them that they have missed an incoming call? This one keeps driving me mad becauses it disconnects me. He who knows all (hubby!!) keeps telling me that it is a form of spam. Maggy, West Yorkshire |

Check your software list in the configuration menu. If you have 'save' in the list, remove it. You can also check to see if save.exe or exe.exe are on your harddisk. save.exe starts up many, many popups without you asking for them. Best of luck! |
