Hi, Irene is a Greek name meaning Peace. It isn't short for anything other than its variation - Irena Gwynne |

Hello Siobhan I think that people named Irene were sometimes known as Rene (pronounced Reeny). Sandra (Lancs) |

Irene is sometimes shortened to Reenee. Not sure how its spelt, but thats how its pronounced, anyway. Possibly Rene? Renie? Reenie? Jan. |

Have you tried looking under LITTLE or JOHNS? My grandfather's marriage was proving impossible to find until I found it recorded under just half of his surname. |

Hi Siobhan Have you noticed that there is a Abbey Kerina Littlejohns on GC, born in Salisbury in 1903. Could Kerina be your Irene? Just a thought! |
