I noticed, whilst travelling to my family in South London and before I started my research that Kew had a Records Office. Can anyone please tell me exactly what type of records they hold. I have regularly thought of going there but I would like to know whats there first. Many thanks Fiona |

Hello Fiona There are at least a lot of war records there. I have not been for a while, but I went specifically to look up World War 1 Records. If you do go you will need to take a passport with you so that they can issue you with an I.D. card. Regards Sarah |

Fiona, Just had another thought. I don't know if you are near Woking, but the Surrey History centre is quite good too. Have a look at their website (type in google 'Surrey History Centre'.) They do have bits and pieces on other areas - London etc. It might even be worth giving them a ring to find out what they have. Regards Sarah |

Hi, Kew is the home of the national archives and has a huge number of records. Have a look at their website www.pro.gov.uk. Gwynne |
