You're quite welcome, Suzanne. I'll try to find more sites tomorrow. Here is one more for now, although it's mainly for Ontario and Nova Scotia: http://www*collectionscanada.ca/canadiandirectories/index-e.html - Canadian Directories. This is one place I HAVE found quite a few of my ancestors. |

TRUDI: There are only a few Matson's -- none match yours. Sorry I couldn't find anything. MARGARET: Just one Darlison: Richard, Year: 1871; Event: living; Place of Event: Collingwood, Nottawasaga, Township; Province of Record Source: Ontario; County of Record Source: Simcoe; Comments: labourer; Lovell's Canadian Dominion Directory for 1871, John Lovel, Montreal, 1871; Volume/Page: 283. Didn't find any Darlyson or anything close to Darlison, sorry. No birth for John Adam Christie. There is only one Haning mentioned: W.A, 1901, living, Place of Event: Fairview; Province of Record Source: British Columbia; Comments: Miner; Source: Henderson's British Columbia Gazetteer and Directory and Mining Companies for 1900-1901; Volume/Page: 268. No deaths for Christie. No Campan(e)y but there were a couple of Campagne and Campaigne (none of those were Amelia or Thomas though). Do you know in which province they lived? No Mossom; closest was Mosso, Basil; Massam, Robert; Massan, John Thomas; Massan, Thomas. Sorry. RICHARD: There was a John Boyd, but he was born in New Brunswick 'about' 1835. A John Boyd was married in 1866 in York County (Ontario). No births or deaths for the other Boyds. I will give you details re 1835 Boyd and 1866 Boyd if you are interested. SUZANNE: There is a John Hislop, but it's the wrong year: John, Year: about 1845; Event: born; Place of Event: Canada; Province of Record Source: Extracts from the 1851 Federal Census of Westminster Township, Middlesex County, Microfilm #C11738, National Archives of Canada, Ottawa. Sarah McKay: Sarah, Year: about 1857; Event: born; Place of Event: Ontario; Province of Record Source: Ontario; Source: Extracts from the 1861 federal census of Moore Township, Lambton County, Microfilm #C1040, National Archives of Canada, Ottawa. Sorry, nothing more for the rest of the family. MARNIE: No Martha or M Pace. There was a Darius Pace: Darius; Year: about 1834; Event: born; Place of Event: NB (New Brunswick); Province of Record Source: New Brunswick; Comments: lodger; Source: Extracts from the 1851 Federal Census of York County, Microfilm #C998, C1717, & M5221, National Archives of Canada, Ottawa. Another record with the identical information as above listed him as: servant. No other Pace's born in New Brunswick. EVERYONE: Sorry I wasn't much help. I would be glad to give you Canadian websites to try but that will have to be tomorrow night, as it's going on 12:15 am here. I typed the information from the cd correctly (I was careful with that) but I'm not taking the time to proof anything else, so hope it all makes sense. Actually, let me list a few things now (remember to replace * with .): http://www*ingeneas*com/free/index.html - pay for records; I use this to see if there ARE any records, then try to find them for free elsewhere. This is a wonderful site if you have to purchase the records. http://www*collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/0201_e.html - National Archives of Canada http://homepages.rootsweb*com/~maryc/ontmarr.htm - marriages in Ontario, 1800 - 1924 http://www.islandnet*com/ocfa/ - Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid http://db.library.queensu.ca/census/ - 1871 Census of Canada, Ontario (heads and strays only) Hope this helps. |

Hi Kathryn. So many have helped me here; glad I can try to help you! I looked on my cd -- they aren't mentioned. Do you know about the 1901 census? Charles and his family are mentioned there. They are on two pages, so you won't see the family on one sheet. Here's the site: http://automatedgenealogy*com/census/cache/NationalSummary.jsp (replace * with .) I will continue to help later tonight; have other things I have to do right now! I will try to think of other websites for you. Hope the census page helps for now. PS There are other Thompson's on the same page. In case you've never tried viewing the census, you can see the actual sheet; just follow the directions (a little confusing at first). |

Hi Jane, you wrote at the right time -- not doing much looking up right now. Sorry, there were only a few Sandy's listed. There is only one Thomas Sandy and he was married in 1851. I will give you the names of the other Sandy's in case you ever run across more family: D., George, Hiram, J.W., James, John, S., Samuel, Thomas and William. I tried checking the inGeneas site -- http://www(.)ingeneas(.)com/ingeneas/index(.)html -- your Sandy's aren't there either. (remove brackets to check website) Aha -- finally got something. Perhaps you already know about this -- but I found Nelson Victor's Attestation Papers for WWI. It includes his signature. His signature (to me) looks like "Landy". If you are having difficulty tracking him down, perhaps people thought the name was Landy, rather than Sandy. Here is the site, in the event you've never seen his papers: http://data2(.)archives(.)ca/cef/gat2/078469a(.)gif -- remove the brackets. To get to the main site, http://www(.)archives(.)ca/02/02010602_e(.)html and type in the ancestor's name. (I tried checking my cd for Landy -- no luck there.) Nelson's address is listed as Stratford (Ontario). I believe my mum lived there for a short time when she was young. I've written to my mum and asked her if she remembers much about the town. Just rereading your note -- perhaps you don't know about the Attestation Papers, as you are unsure of Nelson's birthdate. It is listed, as well personal information like his height, eye and hair colour, etc. I've listed great websites to try, in my recent messages. You might try Bob's Your Uncle, Eh and Cyndi's List. (See earlier messages.) I wish you the best and if I can do anything else, please let me know. |

John: Sorry, there is only one Shoyer on the index. It clearly isn't the one you are looking for, but since there was only one I wanted to give you the information: Joseph Shoyer, Event: living, Year: 1861, Place: Beauharnois, Province of Record Source: Quebec, County of Record Source; Chateauguay, Source: Cadastres abreges des Seigneuries du District de Montreal (Vol. 1) No. 2, Beauharnois, Quebec, 1863, Volume/Page: 26; Please note: The province and county are associated with the location of the record source and in some cases may not be the same as the place where the event occurred. If there are any other lookups I may help you with, please let me know. Good luck with your George. |

Hi George: Sorry, 1911 is the last date mentioned for "a" Thomas Little (he lived in Carmangay, Alberta, and was a druggist). I can get specifics for you, if you like. (All of the T., Thomas and Tom's were prior to 1911.) Didn't find any Jennie's and only a couple of J. Littles (J. Little was a physician in 1911 in Irma, Alberta). Sorry I couldn't help you, but as mentioned in my previous note, you might check out the sites I've recommended, if you haven't already. I wish you the best! |

Hi Jennifer: Well! There is one Harold Fletcher in Canada, but it doesn't give too many specifics. Harold Fletcher, Event: living, Year: 1912, Place: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Province of Record Source; Saskatchewan, Comments: Contractor, Source: Henderson's Moose Jaw Alphabetical Directory for 1912 (A-S only); Volume/Page: 233. Please note: The province and county are associated with the location of the record source and in some cases may not be the same as the place where the event occurred. There is one other possibility: H.R. Fletcher, Event: living, Year: 1910, Place: Saskatoon, Province of Record Source: Saskatchewan, County of Record Source; Saskatoon, Comments: Company Vice President, Source: Henderson's City of Saskatoon Alphabetical Directory for 1910; Volume/Page: 159. (Same note as above) Hope that helps. I listed a couple of great websites (perhaps message no. 40?) that you might try to further your search. All the best!! PS My index only includes things such as city directories, an atlas, old books, etc. This index has very limited Canadian information! |
