Well!! I posted a message asking for a site about old uniforms and someone directed me here. I didn't find what I wanted but copied into a document addresses I thought I could use. 5 page document later I have finished. Uniforms can now wait for about 3months while I go through the list! Many thanks to all, Jacky :-)

Hi all, Have just stumbled across this site:www(.)raogk(.)com/england. It stands for random acts of genealogical kindness, and is a list of people from all over the country who will do various lookups, take photos etc for you. I`m not sure but I think there are also pages for other countries as well. Hope this is of use to someone. Rebecca

Not sure if these have been mentioned: Canadian Virtual War Memorial: http://198.103.134.2/general/sub.cfm?source=collections/virtualmem Soldiers of the First World War - Canadian Expeditionary Force http://www.archives.ca/02/02010602_e.html This site is very good for Scottish relatives & emigrants who enlisted from Canada. You can view their Attestation Paper online - with details of next of kin & distinguishing marks! www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - all your scottish certificate needs www.old-kirkcudbright.net - genealogical info & more for Dumfries & Galloway area focussing on Kirkcudbright & surrounding area. Includes OPR death records & lots of excellent information. www.dumgal.gov.uk/services/depts/comres/library/archives.asp - includes partial 1851 census for Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire & Wigtownshire in a wonderfully searchable format which should be the norm for all census records!
