Hi everyone, I just had to tell someone as I'm so happy!!!!! As some of you will know we have been searching for my husband Tony's birth family for some time. Recently I was able to broadcast the brilliant news that Tony is now in touch with his birth Mum by phone and letter and they are getting on like a house on fire!! We had been asked by another birth family member not to tell Tony's mum about her brother who we had also found (thankfully!!) along the way as it may upset her as she had cut off contact with her family over 40 years ago due to personal circumstances. Last night Tony's mum phoned and I answered. An hour and 45 mins later the call finally came to an end, but it was just the most brilliant call. She was telling me about her brothers and the more she told me the worse I felt, knowing that I could tell her about her little brother who is dying to talk to her! Eventually, when I could contain myself no longer, I (rather hesitantly) told her how we had found her brother a few months ago, and that he would love to talk to her if she would like! She was over the moon and as soon as I ended the call I phoned him and told him!!!! Over the moon is a bit tame for his reaction and I have just come back from a mammoth shopping trip to find the sweetest email from him telling me that they had hit it off immediately and that he is phoning her again tomorrow!!!! I now feel like a fairy godmother granting the ultimate Christmas Wishes of two very special people! Sorry for rambling, but I'm just so happy!!!:0)))))) Eleanor xxxxx

How wonderfull. A tear has come to my eye, & a smile to my face. I lost my mum to cancer when I was 14, ( almost 23 years ago ) I would do anything to hear her voice or see her for just five minutes. Bless you all, a giant hug squeezing you tightly together. Be very, very happy this christmas.. Elaine x

Thank you all for your kind messages. I'm still smiling from ear to ear! And another wonderful thing has just happened. The postman just came and delivered several cards for my daughter Lexie's 5th birthday which is tomorrow. And amongst them is a card from Tony's mum, Lexie's (other!)Grannie! This is the first time any of our children have received cards from both of their grandmothers! I have to confess to a rather large lump in my throat at the thought, and Lexie hasn't even opened it yet!! "When you're smiling, when you're smiling.....!!!!!" Love Eleanor xx

You must really be over the moon with happiness. Congratulations! Your story is one of the reasons that I love to do the lookups for everyone. Even though, for the most part we are delving into the past, every once in a while the past meets the present and brickwalls come tumbling down. Teresa

Well done ewe! That is a lovely story. So many people go through their lives with issues that should have blown over years ago but can't bring themselves to make a move. It must be a great feeling to have been instrumental in repairing a family relationship that would probably have never been sorted. Have a wonderful Christmas with the knowledge that you have been a true blessing to those family members! Aileenx

Eleanor and Tony What a wonderful end to the year you have had. I am so pleased for you all. You must be floating still from making contact with Tony's mum and to be able to reunite her with her brother must be a tremendous feeling. I hope some of your luck and happiness will rub off on all those in similar circumstances and break down some brickwalls in 2004. Hope you have fantasic Christmas. Thank you so much for telling us about your experiences it gives us all hope and renewed determination. Best wishes Michele x

Tony and I would just like to thank everyone who has added their warm wishes to our lovely news. It is a wonderful feeling for us and we hope that those of you in similar circumstances will soon be reunited with your 'lost' relatives. We are eternally grateful to everyone here on GC who has helped us in miriad ways during this part of our search. We've decided not to rush into the next part of the search which entails finding the other 5 or 6 uncles that Tony has never known and that his mum and uncle have had no contact with for about 40 years! Goodness knows what we will find when the time comes, but for now we are more than content with what we've got!! So in the meantime, we're always here ready to help the next person in whatever way we can. Digging is our speciality (we've done plenty of that just recently!!) Good Luck and God bless to you all. We hope you all have a peaceful and happy Christmas and a New Year full of excitement and success! Love Eleanor & Tony xx
