I have a family of Townsends in Scotland. All the info I have back to 1850 says TOWNSEND. Now the certs I have sent for have TOWNSLIE/TOWNSLEY. I don't quite know where to put them on the GC board. Do I have to try and start a new name list? How? As people looking for these names will not look under Townsend. Or do I put them under Townsend and hope for the best. Also the father has always been listed as born Glasgow, but the birth cert I got for his daughter says Maybole, Ayr, which I'm more inclined to believe as it has an actual parish.Does this have something to do with the Poor Laws? I feel a headache coming on :-) Sylvia |
