Hi all, One of my rellies Ann (nearly Hannah!) is becoming a real pain! Why? Well its not that I can`t find her, quite the opposite, she appears to have been living at 2 seperate addresses on the same census! Now I know I`ve lost the plot! Rebecca

My daughter is a hannah, she is anything but shy retiring and mumbling, but she can be quite contrary and awquard so that fits, but I wouldn't change her for the world.

Got to say Love the name, my daughters called Hanna left the H of because all my mum-in-laws grand daughters names ended with a A i wouldnt dare be different. My Hanna's a darling and 21 now. And found 2 members of my family who were called Hannah always listed as Ann/Anna. another bit of useless information hehe. Jill

Hi all you Hannah searchers, I also have a Hannah in my tree (surname SMITH!!) so I know what its like, but the hardest to trace so far was my grandmother. Her name was Jane Ellen but I couldn`t find her under either. Eventually found her going by the name of DOROTHY!! Rebecca (who is very confused and needs to lie down!)

No one has mentioned the fact that Hannah is a palindrome - spelt the same backwards and forwards, which makes it even more special. I had an aunt who always called my daughter 'annah. I am sure when babies were registered the 'h' often got lost. Could be your 'alien' Hannah, Gerry is an 'annah.

I have a Hannah in my tree who over the course of the census years was as follows Hannah Johannah Joanna Joahanah Annah Anna so check all these names out, you might find her Happy hunting Debbi

Thanks everyone. I originally posted this as a light hearted thing, but some useful stuff has come out of it fo me. Spoke to the dreaded Mother-in-law tonight whose family it is I trying to tie down. She can tell me stories about practically everyone back to William the Conquerer but on the Hannahs she is mute, which is very UNUSUAL!

I've got a Hannah in my tree, at birth she was spelt Susanna, on her marriage certificate it was spelt Susannah, but on both 1881 & 1891 census she was down as Hannah It's all done to confuse us!!!

We've got an Ann Hannah - which is really the same name twice if you look at anything about name meanings ! Maz. XX

Julie Good for you. I wondered if there were any modern day Hannahs. I quite like the name myself but I just wish mine hadn't be dumped on Earth without a by-your-leave or any records!

I chose the name Hannah for my daughter as I got to really like the name when I was researching my tree about twenty years ago. I am pleased to say, she is a very 'unpainful' Hannah and, as she is now studying Drama at university, certainly not a mumbler or shy.

As well as not being able to find her marriage details, my Hannah also had a relatively unusual middle name, Keziah, that I've also seen spelt Kesia, Kezia and Kesizah just to help matters !! I too have interchangeable hannah/Anna's

There looks like there is some hope then for us all my gr gran was called Mary Hannah and it has been so hard tryin to find her but with all your tips to try all sorts of names i am now hopin i will beable to get some where. I have proof that my grandmother, Hannah Jane Harris, is an alien and landed by space ship the day that she married grandad in 1892. She claimed to be 20 years old, but allowing for Einsteins's theory of relativity was actually 753. Must go, time for my injection again.
