Susie, That's good because you could lose the first 3 pages if you save it with the same name. Take a deep breath cos it's just about to get complicated ! Do you sstill have what you've done tonight on your screen ? If so, open up what's on the floppy drive as well. You should then have the little X symbol down at the bottom of your screen twice, both saying blank.xls. Is that what you can see ? Rick. |

Hi Susie & Jo ! Do is short for ditto, which is a repetition of what came before. The notes say to transcribe the actual name, not the ditto or do - sorry ! Did you rename the first file you transcribed into to something other than blank.xls Susie. If you didn't, you will overwrite it if you save this one with the same name ! Before you save what you're working on, open up My Computer and double-click on the A: drive - tell me what you can see. Rick. |

Sussie, I would have thought if you saved it to the floppy and not saved it first as it was on excel then that was it. You would get a blank excel up again because nothing was saved on it. If that makes sense, hope Ricks looking out on this! Please dont take my word for it see what else is said. |

Sussie, "do" is whats before, hope this is right, I put the surname or place what ever as it was on the written line. As for the floppy I think it should show do you want to write over or words to that effect and click yes to save the whole pages again. I haven't actually saved mine to floppy yet. I'm sure some one else might give better advice. |

Yes thanks Jo, I did. Makes a change to be surrounded with live rellies ! Saw a cousin for the first time in 15 years. First thing she said was "Mum told me you had lost most of your hair". :-(( At least I don't have to worry about going grey ! Rick. |

Hi Jeanette, They suggest 5 pages. Glad you're flying along. You don't fancy a few pages of Devon 1861 do you? :-) |

Hi Rick Mine is going swimmingly at the mo but I've had a look at the end of the cd and the writing is awful. How many pages do we have to do initially to have checked bafore we can carry on? Jeanette |

Just nudging this up again. Have got my cd now, am doing 1861 Melton Mowbray, Leics, when I have figured it all out that is!!! My husband is going to help me with everything later I hope. He also says, like Rick, that you don't have to put SSCens onto a floppy. By the way Rick, have just been laughing my socks off at all your banter regarding enumerators. I haven't looked at my cd yet, am just going to. Lol! Lisa x |
