Hi My relatives are: NUTT William 1810 South Molton Devon BARTLETT Grace 1816 Launceston Cornwall 1st child born South Molton 1836 between then and the next child 1843 they moved to Bristol. William and Grace are as far back as I've got but would like to find more ancestors who presumably are from Devon/Cornwall area. |

Hello Firstly, I noticed one of the churchyard-hunting offers was for Holsworthy area: that's North Devon. In general, if I'm not sure where a place is I start with Multimap, or the like. It usually works, but not always. Otherwise, you need a gazetteer. Secondly - yes, there is a competing thread - I found the Devon-only thread before I found this one. Thirdly - noting the last posting number is a useful way of tracking whether or not it's worth having a look at the thread. For anyone who hasn't noticed the facilities (and I know how easy it is to miss the obvious) there are two useful ones:[1] view own threads (so you only check the ones to which you've been posting) and [2] latest reply first (so you can see what's been added without trekking through the whole list). My Cornwall names are mainly round Mevagissey: BAR(R)ON - SCANTLEBURY - BARRETT SEACOMBE/SECCOMBE - THOMAS - BROKENSHA (and variants) MITCHELL - OLVER - BARTILLA There's a clutch of names which are East-Cornwall or Devonport / Morice Town / Compton Gifford / Stoke Damerel PRYNN - COKE GOULD - RUSE - WADLIN(G)/WADLETON HICKS - BUNNY/BONNY - RICKARD - GIMBLETT/GEMLET - JAGO - ALLING cheers Christine |
