I have asked GC to rationalise the search facilities, but so far no luck. Unless we all use exactly the same format when entering our rellies they can be very hard to find in a search. These are the families I am related to from the Isle of Wight. |

When I was transcribing baptisms for Fordingbridge Hants there were quite a few from Godshill. any idea what the link would be? they were not all the same surname. Ann Glos |

It was probably a ferry point from the Island. And Godshill is just by Newport. |

The Isle of Wight Family History Society have started to put a searchable BMD Database online. It starts in 1837, and you can order certificates online too. Jim |

Thanks for that update Jim. Anybody out there have family who married a SHEATH? They seem to have been widespread throughout the Island. I have yet to sort out all info. after an I.o W. record office trip but am esp. interested in East Cowes and Whippingham. |

I have started a database of Families on the Isle of Wight who have a Rayner as a Parent. I have listed all the marriages of Rayners 1837 to 1880, and listed their children as best I can. I can lookup for anyone who asks. Jim |

Well done Linda, I had forgotten about this thread. I used the BMD only the other day, printed off a Cert request and sent it off with my £7. Also I emailed the IoW RO yesterday and got a reply the same day which, although not giving me anything new, at least proved that their search had been thorough. |
