Hi, My gt grandparents married in Derby (St Alkmunds) I have managed to trace quite bit of info, but have been as yet unable to trace g/grans death, her dau Mabel Grant (my g.mother) had been sent to Canada in 1889, supposed t have been an orphan, (her father Gerge Nelson Grant WAS alive and in abt 1891 was in Birmingham, he travelled around because he was a "travelling postman" However, he appears to have been remarried in 1901 (then living in London) so obviously his 1st wife must have died, but when? The family were still together in 1881 census for Perth Scotland, but I cannot find g.grans death there, so wonder if she returned to Derby? her name was Mary Hannah Grant (maiden name Copeland) she was born in Derby and had family of Copelands there, have almost given up trying, keep checking BMD records, but so far no trace. Any info on this would be amazing! |

I am looking for anyone descended from William Brittan/on c.1790 and Sarah, especially those descendants of his son Reuben born 1818 and his wife Eliza(Elizabeth)Carding/Carden. I believe Reuben to have been married before to Ellen Durrant and to have had a son Henry by that marriage. The family came from Derby and from the 1870's lived in the lived in the Litchurch area. Christine, thank you for your reply, it's great when there's a link. The Wild/Wylde saga is the same for me, they started off as Wylde in Clay Cross and then over the years some changed their name to Wyld and Wild. I don't know if Elizabeth is related because I don't know any of my George Wylde's brothers or sisters, she may be. Have you got any info on her? Susan x |
