I picked this up at Waterstones the other day and am, so far, finding it a really engrossing read. It really puts the 19th century (and the lives of our famly-tree members) into context. I bought it with some trepidation, as I don't always get on too well with wading thorugh non-fiction. He does throw in the odd choice word, such as 'shibboleth' and 'Benthanistic ideologies' etc but despite that, its surprisingly engaging and easy to read. Check it out ! Simon |
