For all of you, take a look at this site which lists gravestone inscriptions from many, many cemeteries. I have found it really helpful. Incidentally, I recognise quite a few names from the area I live in (Tenterden) so why not try the phone books and start writing to the living? I'm looking for: OTTAWAY, Amy. not sure of birth date but some time around 1900ish. STOKES, Thomas. again not sure of birth date. They both lived in Kent, somewhere around Halstow/Upchurch area. Not sure of the date they were married. Amy died in 1931, Thomas only a few years later.
