MELHUISH MOYSE RODD LOCK MALET/MALLET/MALLETT I have a lot of info on the latter but would like to connect together anyone from these lines, to help others and fill gaps. Also particularly interested in Rodds from the North Devon (Barnstaple) area. Thanks Richard |

My husband's family comes from Devon/Cornwall and I'm doing an ancestral chart - that means lots of Devon/Cornwall names. CHAPMAN (Black Torrington/Sheepwash) - got 1871/81/91/1901 but nothing earlier HALL HORN There should be some BEALEs here somewhere, but they haven't surfaced yet - unless I've made a wrong connection somewhere. RUSE (nr Saltash & Devonport) - got 1841 & 1871 onward, not '51 & '61 WADLIN(G) - have found the excellent Wadlin(.)com website - HICKS - RICKARD - BUNNY - GIMBLETT - OLVER - ALLING - KENSPEARE - JAGO (pretty much all in East Cornwall) GOULD (Devonport/Stoke Damerel/Morice Town/Compton Gifford) got 1881 & later, nothing earlier PRYNN (Devonport) got 1871 & later, nothing earlier COKE (Devonport) got 1871 for Prudence (Saml Prynn's wife) and 1881 for Prudence (Saml Prynn's M-i-L). COCKS (Plymouth/Devonport) but as they're mariners / RN, I can't be sure where their base is supposed to be! - could be Portsmouth/Gosport/Alverstoke - or Liverpool! - or... If anyone is researching any of these, I can (obviously) be more specific about first names. I just thought a whole essay here would be too much! Christine |

re HOUCHEN I spent a happy (1972?) Summer Uni-Vacation trawling the (original - what a privilege - my father was Rector!) Parish Registers of Fincham on behalf of a family in NZ. There were lots there. I could try to find the NZ info, in case they've got anything of relevance, if you like. Christine |

Thank you Sally! Nope, can't make any sense of it. I visited my mother today and she did say the word Cornwall. I couldn't understand much else of what she said. Makes me feel like Sherlock Holmes. :) I love detective work. Where's Mr. Watson when you need him? LOL |
