Hi Crista. Just noticed your message regarding pre-1837 Surrey marriages. I know you are a very busy lady, but if you could find time to follow up on these for me I'd be ever so grateful. David SARGENT Bn. 1785 = Elizabeth RIDLEY abt 1803 in Burstow, Surrey. Thomas SARGENT bn. 1809 = Mary LAKER in Burstow, Surrey. Any details on these and any SCOTT marriages from around Burstow, Horne and Horley areas would be very welcome indeed. Good hunting Jim |

Thank you so much Crista. I will keep for future use. I think i'm going to have to order his marriage cert to get the names relating to him but I'm absoultely sure that one of the three couples you gave me will be his parents. Boo! Hoo! Many thanks again, it will spur me on to go back to my Hammonds. Pam |

Hi Patricia, Do you have any first names? There are so many that I'd be here all day if I had to type out all the matches. I'm not able to just copy and paste. Crista |

Sarah, Thank you for your comment - to answer your question - yes and no!!! I was born in Godalming and have probably been to Shere many times as a small child - however, at the grand age of 50 I don't remember any of it. Just brought my hubby in to read your posting - he guessed by the inquisitive, pleading look on my face - OK he said, we'll go in a few weeks time. YESSSSSS - thank you Sarah :-))))))) Gaynor xx |

Gaynor Saw that you were looking for people in Shere. Have you been there? It is such a lovely place. There was, I don't know if it is still there, a lovely Museum in the village. It gets exceptionally busy in the Summer. A very pretty place... Kind Regards Sarah.X |

Crista Hi you lovely lady and thanks for this – you could be my Saviour !!! I am so confused over my Edgingtons – from 1841 census I cannot determine who belongs to who!! They were all in the parish of Shere (sometimes Shiere). If there aren’t too many that go with the name of Edgington – all of them would be useful as I think they are ALL mine – not that common a name!!! If that’s too much to ask, then would you please look up the marriage of Thomas Edgington to Amelia Martin in Shere – guess it would be circa 1825 ish. I have been able to trace quite a few Edgington kids, but know they don’t all belong to Thomas and Amelia – I think Thomas may have had a brother called George, any info on his marriage roundabout the same dates would be great – if that’s poss. That’s my prob – no idea who Thomas and George’s parent were. And – to be even cheekier, and also in Shere – can you find a marriage between Abraham Jones and Ann ?? The only info I can help you with here is on the 1841 Abraham was 30 and Ann 26 (I think) and their eldest child is 7 – so about 1833/4? Just to confuse – there appears to be a gang of Edgingtons in Albury/Godstone as well, probably a connection somewhere and somehow!!! Ooooo – am so excited – I have been pulling my hair out with this lot for quite some time. Gaynor xxxx |
