Thanks Lisa for your kind offer I am trying to compile a database of ALL the DEARDS Families I can find, in particular from HERTS, and concentrating now on the 18C.. Other variations of the Surname could be DARDS, DARDES, DEARDES for example. One direct-line relative I have been stuck on for some time is a MARRIAGE for a JOHN DEARDS to a MARY presumably prior to 1771, and whose 1st child William was Christened in Welwyn in 1771. [Sorry, don't know where the marriage took place]. JOHN was from WELWYN, HERTS, where all of his 7 children were Christened, and his occupation was a butcher. JOHN was Christened in Welwyn in 1744, and died there in May 1799. MARY [whose Maiden Surname is unfortunately unknown] died in Welwyn on 30 November 1797. It's an outside chance, I know, but if you can find anything relating to the above, I will be delighted to receive details. Thanks again for your kind offer! Regards, Mike [Deards] from Spain |

Hi All, I have noticed that some of you are researching names in St. Ippollitts, St. Ippolyts or any other spelling you would like to try. I live in St. Ippollitts and so if I can be of any help to anyone just let me know. the school is right by the church and I am up there twice a day so can always take a wander round the graveyard or pictures etc. Will e-mail direct those that I have noticed researching this area just in case they don't see this message. |

Hi Lisa, I'm looking for the parents of Thomas Oakman. He was born in Albury, Herts in 1761. He married Ann Wheeler on the 19/11/1785 and settled in Therfield, Herts where he died on the 10/01/1841. Just as an interesting fact Therfield was originally spelt as Tharfield. I would be happy for any information on the Oakmans in that area. Waiting in anticipation! Dennis |
