Hi Jen, I can only think of the Brandwood that is part of Myddle, not far from Welshampton. Myddle is ususally written as Middle in the census records. Myddle comes under Ellesmere registration district too. It is just an area of that village. Both Myddle and Welshampton are areas that my own families lived and I have seen the Madeley name often. Let me know if you need any other info Allie x |

Hi Allie, Great grandmother came from Shropshire. Born Hanmer Flintshire in 1848. Her father was born Welshampton. I know about the family but am a little puzzled about one particular aspect about their background! Have googled for information and checked different site about Shropshire, but am not really finding the info I want. In the census' the place they lived was called Brandwood. From the beginning I felt this could be the name of their farm. Later I began to wonder if it was an actual place in Shropshire. This is what I want to know please, if you could possibly find out for me. So far, I have not discovered whether the place they lived was Brandwood, or whether it was the name of their farm?? If it was the farm, I am unsure of the district/area of Shropshire it was...........quite probably close to Hanmer. Their name was Madeley. Father William born 1820, The registration district was Ellesmere. Thankyou, Jen |
