Frances If you mean Ashby de la zouch, that is in Leicestershire (North West to be precise!) I'm just off to the library (COALVILLE) and I was thinking: I'm going to be looking at parish registers so if I find out exactly what's held at the library I could offer next time to trawl through them for any one wanting a lookup. would there be any takers? |

Greeting’s Again Sarah. . . Having blown up scan of that 1861 Census 300%. . . Ann ??? reads “ Ditto “ making her the Dau of Thomas Hincks. My thoughts on the others. . . . Has the names of Elizabeth, Richard, and Ann. Have been with Thomas from 1841. Except Elizabeth in 1851.But she is not in the County that Census as either a Hincks. Staniford or Staniforth, But is back in 1861.With Samuel. ( No Male Burials found in Barwell in any of those names or of the right age.) Now the Crimean Wars were about to start around this time. ( 1854 ~ 1856 ) Wonder if Hubby was involved with that and was killed abroad ? As for Richard Jnr. I think he belongs to Richard Snr. By Female unknown ? Finally to finish on for now. . . from my little book :- Nurse Child :- A child being looked after by another family for payment MIKE. |

Hello again Mike, thanks for looking! My apologies for my confusion. Yes this is the one that is linked to Farmer Staniforth, however, as I was researching the Staniforths before, I got mixed up on my Hincks. The Hincks and Staniforths have married into each others famillies three times (so far in my research!), and it is so confusing! My problem is then, who is Richard Hincks (b.1855) mother? Given that he is residing with his father on the 1861, and his father is stated as unmarried? I have tried 1837 for a birth registration - nothing..... Cant find any Richard Hincks marriage Leics or Derby between 1844-1855 either (they may have married later I guess, but this doesnt explain the mothers absence in the 1861) Any ideas on where I should go next? As for the 1881, I don't know. I think its possible, but not likely this is Richard senior, there is the spelling error of course, the job change and the "nurse child" - what is that all about?! More confused than ever.... Re tossing the coin - I bet heads wins, but am willing to try double or quits on this family....lol! Thanks Mike ;-)) Sarah |

Mike I incorrectly thought the Phillimore's was the only searchable outlet for the marriages i needed,- how wrong can you be - Beverly has given much detail. Are details for All Saints, St Martins and St Georges marriages also readily available, if so can you please list same for TOMKINS entries?. I live in hope !! Jon |

If you ever go over to Northants record office would you let me know as I am starting now to research husband's tree and I believe they came from Northants on the census forms I have three diferent places of birth Brigstock Braisworth and Brickworth, but I have looked in a map book and I can only see a place called Brigstock, would you agree on that Mike? Anyway if you are calling there in the near future could you let me know, thanks Mike Sue......................... |
