Ellis On the 1901 there are no Emily HURDMAN entries at all, and no Leicester connections as far as I can see. There are only 118 of that spelling in the country! Any other clues? |

Farmer Staniforth was his full name! Years for the asylum info would be mid - late 1800s, am going to leave that one for now, as I am getting completely confused, I know it was my gt grans aunt! I am just trying to go through my other grandmothers side now, and just to complicate things further I have found my gt grandmother married into her fathers family again - (Barwell also!) ooer!! Mike, I might call on you again if thats ok to help me to sort this horrible mess out! You are a bright star in the dark for me right now!!! Thankyou and thankyou again. Sarah |

Greeting’s Again Sarah. . . . On the 1841. Census. In the end column. To the question were they born within the County? It only allows either a Y =Yes or NO = NO. So if this ? ? ? village was on the border of Leicestershire / Derbyshire. Then the enumerator might have put a Y to simplify matters. Also Mary just might have been out visiting / Staying with a relative On the night of Sunday 30th. March. 1851. So at this stage I wouldn’t worry to much. Now I have found a Death for a Mary Bond in the year 1861. April Qrt. 1861. Mary Bond. Aston. Warwickshire. 6d.178. What year are we talking about for the Asylum list ? Some times they were called Workhouses. Yes I do have the 1861. Census of City & Leicestershire. both in Index and scanned images of returns. Was “ Farmer “ his Christian Name or Occupation ? MIKE. |

Hello Mike and thanks for the help. I am getting more confused! Where does this leave me in relation to where Mary was born (and what happened to her?!), as if she was born within the county, where would my Aithcoal near Church Greasley, Derbyshire be?! According to my family paper (which is proving ever more confusing) Mary died May 10 1861 - which I am unable to find a record of! Will keep at it! Thanks again, Sarah P.S Do you know where I would find records of asylums in the Hinckley area, there was a family rumour about an aunt.....??!! PPS Now I am getting really cheeky! Do you have the 1861, as I am trying to trace Farmer Staniforth b.1835 (Barwell) and wife unknown, I know he had a son Farmer in 1865.... BIG PLEASE/THANKYOU! |

No sign of Mary William’s Wife.? ? Thomas.(18) William.(19) these could have flown the coup. . . There was only ONE death for a Jane Bond but that was 1850. Off to check somewhere else now. . . MIKE. Jan. . . . Is that the one between MKP Insurance & Quick Fit ? That other one was a Congregational Chapel and I think it was where the AA Offices was and backed onto Colton Street. in the latter years it was used by the Guild of Disablement. MIKE. |

Greeting’s Again Tracey.. . St Georges would have been my 1st. choice. Then there was a Church, which stood next the Railway Station. But this was moved brick by brick (not sure when.) And rebuilt on University Road / New Walk. Now it‘s either. . St. Stephens or St. Christopher not sure. St. Martins. St Margaret’s. All Saint’s. St. Leonard’s. St. Luke’s. And there was a Congregational Church on Charles Street ? And the Methodist Church in Bishop Street. If I think of any more I’ll post them for you. |

Greeting’s Tracey. . . I had a look for Marriages For “ Tedds” 1899 ~ 1906. on the 1837 site. (I thought this would be a better name to search than Wright.) But drew a blank for Leicester or Leicestershire. These are the closest I could find:- Nottingham.1902. Nuneaton.1902. Coventry.1901. & 1902. Boston.1902. Atherstone.1901. And one in Thetford 1901. The only Alice Wright closest to her age on the 1891. Census. Was only aged 7. and living with her Parents in Belgrave Area of Leicester. Did Alice marry a “Tedds” then around 1901 ish ? and do you know the Surname of the Uncle ? If you post further details e.g. Christian names and dates I’ll have an other look for you. Just had a look and found 50 Linthwaite’s on the 1851. Living within the Borough of Leicester City. MIKE. Sue. . . . . . THANK YOU. . for your letter and yes it will go towards my Scouts funds. . . Oh not sure if I've sent this one before But. . . . (Wait for it ! ! ! . . .lol ) v v v v v v v Marriage. . . . . HANNAH RINGROSE ~ THOMAS BOWLES. By Banns. 1814. Wigston Magna. MIKE. |

Greeting's. . . .Maud. From the details you have given it sounds like it could be the old "Fielding & Johnson Hospital " which stands on the corner of Regent Rd / Waterloo Way. and backs onto Princes Road. This Building has recently undergone renovations and turned into Office Blocks. . . So It wouldn't be any trouble for me to take a few snaps of it and send them on via e-mail to you.? MIKE. |

Greeting’s Again Geraldine.. . . I’ve retraced my steps. . . Here are the burials in Thrussington for BAXTER. . . . Which I meant to put up on this thread for you. THRUSSINGTON. . BAXTER ANN. 26.JUN. 1862. 41. THRUSSINGTON. . BAXTER FREDERICK WILLIAM. 7.FEB.1867.14 THRUSSINGTON. . BAXTER JOHN THOMAS.14.MAR.1870. 19 THRUSSINGTON. . BAXTER ARTHUR FRANCIS. 7.NOV.1870.14 THRUSSINGTON. . BAXTER HENRY.2.NOV.1880. 2YRS 8MTHS On the 1861 Census. (I posted earlier. At 02:39 AM. 18.08.04.) The Arthur Baxter should have read ARTHUR. F. BAXTER. Son aged 5. and not ARTHUR T. BAXTER. Sorry my typing error. See above for burial details.(Which I think answers your question.) Yes you are right it was very common to name a child the same if the 1st.one has died. (Which can be very frustrating) You mentioned “ Jack Baxter The Pikelet King “ No he was just a bit before my time. . lol. :0)) But there was a Photo of him in my local paper a few months back. . . Did he sell his wares around the Market Place / East- Gates ? Hope the emended information helps you. . . . MIKE. |
