I am looking for any references to a George Henry Parr. I know that he had two daughters at least, Catherine Jane born in 1891. and Louise (Louisa?) who was possibly older. I have had some information from the boards, I am just trying to confirm details, marriage, wife's name, etc. I have a feeling that he may have married at least twice. Paul

Greeting's Again Beverly, I've now looked up the Emma Norton 19. servant in Syston Details :- She was a servant to a Auctioneer valuer at the Green Syston. ( Sorry could make out name) looking at scanned image Her job was a domestic general servant Born Northwich Cheshire..... Now I know it said she was born in Gaddesby (1881) But you see she was a Grand daughter on the 1881. Census So she might not have known her place of birth ? But there again we could be barking up the wrong Tree. MIKE.

Hi Mike Are the 1881 different to the internet? If so could you possibly look for my great grandfather Thomas Aldred. he was born in 1876 in the workhouse in Leicester and moved to the cottage homes at Countesthorpe when they opened. He could be living with his mother Ann Aldred who was unmarried I've tried loads of variations on familysearch but they don't seem to be on there. Paula

But due to the sensitive details He is the only one who can look at Records. But he will give you the information in written form. Hi Mike Thanks alot for looking. I've already got the other info but it was just the 1881 i can't find them on. Maybe they got missed off. I live in Countesthorpe so i can get to the records office quite easily although not as often as i would like due to work. I knew the info at the records office on the cottage homes has a 100 year closure on it but i didn't know you could get the head man to look at it for you. Is it best to write or could i put the request in person when i next go to the records office Paula

The birthplace is transcribed as "Ftrier". Husband and kids born in Syston, still there in 1881. Any ideas where this might be? Could you (dare I ask?) check your 1861 for me??? You are the best! If you break down that parish name down = CIL..OY....TON but pronouncing "C" as a "K" Then you can make = COLE OR TON. (Coleorton) Ashby de la Zouch area. Locals pronounce it with a K... Village names around Coleorton = Heathern.... Hathern. Or.. Neither Broughton...Upper Broughton. ( Spotted Picks in these villages 1861.) But these are to the North of Melton Mowbray... Which then puts it near to Syston....? ? ? Uncle MIKE.

Sir Mike, just wanted to update you with my Grimsley problem that you worked soooooooooo hard on, i solved it !!! The Joseph Garrett Grimsleys were father & son, found Joseph snr had remarried after his 1st wifes death, then married my ggg grandmother, and it all fitted into place on the 1871 census, would like to thank you for all your effort, and am just searching for my next brickwall you can help me with........ Cor blimey Mike, do you really think it's possible that my family TRAVELLED a bit? They didn't move from Barwell until the 1960s (to Hinckley!), and I was extremely shocked to find that a daring few had branched out to Syston...... Well, this has given me food for thought!
