Greeting’s Again Tracy Rose. . . . I’m sorry for the delay but was following the family lines of a Harry WALLACE aged 9. (1852) the ONLY Harry Wallace from the Scanned images for the 1861. Census. In the village of Waltham-on-the-Wolds. Leicestershire. Now. . The place of birth shown on that scan could have been read as “ BELTON.” To match your details given but it turned out to be in fact “ MELTON.” So tried a different spelling of Wallace. . . . BINGO ! ! ! . . . . . GR9 / 2276 /Page 66. Market Place BELTON.( next to the Vicarage.) Thomas WALLISS. Head. Mar. 38. Shoe Maker. Born Northampton. Northamptonshire. Marry. Wife. 29. Born. Belton Leicestershire. HARRY WALLISS. Son. 9. (1852.) Scholar. Born Belton. Fanny. Dau. 7. Scholar. Born Belton. George. Son. 4. Born Belton. Winifred. Dau. 2. Born Belton. * * * * * * * * * * * * * I see that from the 1881. Census it’s spelt the way you gave. . . And Hy. Could have been “ Henry.” . . But also had difficulties finding the place of birth of Harry’s wife ( Mary Ann ) given as “ Broughton” Nott’s. But I think it could be “ Broughton Sulney ” Nott’s. Or it could be “Nether Broughton” 1.4 miles away on the borders of Nott’s & Leicestershire. If you were wondering where Harry’s Daughters Name of “ Betsy “ came from on the 1881. Census. . . . I see that in 1841. There was an ABRAHAM WALLIS. IN Belton. (Also a Shoe Maker ) With a Daughter “ Betsy “ And I see from Burial records she died when 21. Hope this is of help to you. . . MIKE. |

Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) | Report | 30 Sep 2004 14:16 |
Greeting's Beverly. . .. Both come under NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. . . Chapel Brampton Reg. District = Brixworth. Litchborough Reg Distinct = Towcester. MIKE. BERYL. . . . I'm sorry but those dates quoted are before any of my Census Disks. . . . The information would only be got from trawling through Parish Registers and then it only states e.g. = " Son / Daughter of John / Elizabeth " or " Bachelor / Spinster Both of this Parish " and some times if your lucky names of Parents and witness. But on one disk there seems to be alot of Blunts & Blounts in the Village of Wymeswold going back to the 1600's. . . And was not sure which Walton ???? Walton -on-the-Wolds. Walton-cum- Kimcote. Walton-in-Knaptoft. You asked about Land Registry ? the only link I can give you is the District Office here in Leicester which covers the County and does searches :- LAND REGISTRY LEICESTER ( Official Searches ) Tel :- 0116 265 4002. Hi Mike, its me again! Just a general querie that I thought you might be the man who knows the answer to...! As you know my tree is quite complex with lots of marrying in and out of the family! Recently I have discovered two children, both with no father recorded on birth certificates. One case, I have tracked as far as I can go, and I think I will never get back any more. The other, it seems, was brought up by her grandmother, who according to census records lived on an annuitant. I was wondering if I could track this in any way (was wondering if the father maybe paid for the childs upkeep?). Do you know where I could take this, or if any of the countys bastardy bond records are still in existence? Many thanks Sarah |

Sorry but I don't know a lot about those Bonds other than what it stands for But having looked around the net I would say they are a bit like " Hens Teeth " Also..... That Relative might have got their annual income from other means and not necessarily from a Bond. . . rent from property maybe. . . But I'll ask around for you and get back to you..... MIKE. |
