My Mums Death Cert shows cause of death as 'General Deterioration,' she had been in the local hospital for 6 weeks and they still didn't know what was wrong! This was in 2003 not long after the Harold Shipman trial and I had to have a chat with the coroner regarding her care. Looking back now I can see a funny side. She was 83 and had been in pain for many years Not sure what future generations will make of the death cert. |

Deb needs a change | Report | 18 Aug 2007 08:49 |
I have three. The first one, my g/g uncle was 87 and his cause of death.......Fell out of a tree. What was he doing in a tree at the age of 87 I wonder? The second one, my g/grandfather choked on a fish bone. The third from 1936, a great Aunt who died of 'Wet Brain'. My daddy remembers being told she was a big drinker. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Deb:) |

Well we started this thread 3 years ago but we resurrect it now and then for new members to enjoy. Theres also a great one called the 13 commandments - true difficulties we have encountered in our research. Ill see if I can bring that one up too - we all like a larf. |

I have just spent my whole lunch hour reading this thread. I have never laughed so much! I haven't got anything to add, but I would love to know what 'decline' on a death cert means. I have a few with it on..presumably it means someone had been ill for quite sometime and death was the result?? Amazing that this thread has been going since 2004! Brilliant!! Can't wait for more. |

Not a cause of death (well, not often) but did you know that over 500 people a year suffer serious injuries in the home, caused by sofas? OC |
