Hi everyone, The new results page is up. Please have a go and let us know what you think. The search may take a few seconds longer since we are bring back variants as well as regular search results. This is the first phase. In the future we will allow you turn the variant option on or off and will have additional features in an advanced search. Thanks, Michelle

Hi, I like it, but the dreaded tick in the box, allowing other members to view your tree automatically is back, can you remove this? Otherwise, job well done. Sheila

I have to say I think it's fantastic, I have names in my tree (including my own) that people find hard to pronounce never mind spell !!! This will make searching so much easier.... Thanks Kx

Michelle PLEASE PLEASE got rid of the dreaded tick in the box, allowing other members to view your tree automatically. This caused so many problems last time it was activated and the boards were inundated with issues about it. When you upgraded GR, it looks like this customisation is missing from the last time it was changed on GR. Thanks

Hi Michelle, a PROBLEM: I searched on the name REVILL. The result showed 11 surname variants. I clicked the variants tab and although it said "Below are....", NO NAMES were shown. If I search for a name with only 1 variant, this works ok. Marian

... re above. The problem is only if I search for REVILLs in Clowne. If I just search for all Revills, I get many variants and I can see those OK. (?) Marian

What do you mean by search results page?? Have scoured homepage but can't find anything.

hi jeanie and lorainedown the left hand side of the page is the list of items on the site. under import/export tree you will see name search. it is the page where you can search to find other names the same as yours. hope this helps susie

I just tried quite a wide ranging search - for my surname and Lancashire. There were 261 matches so it would not let me see them, I would have had to go through a series of filters by date or first letter of name. The old system allowed you to access the results which were grouped by first name (or location?) which I prefer. I have wondered sometimes whether you should allow a search by place of birth with no surname entered. This would only be practical for small villages but in those cases it could be quite useful. Thank God it's not just me! I went to look at it and couldn't see any difference but thought, "well maybe it only appears after you've entered a name" Tried that, still no new Would you like to try spelling varients? I really thought I'd finally lost my marbles :-)

Why has the new search page dissappeared, I have got the old search page now. I thought that the new one was here to stay. Nicola

Hi, What does a person do?....go to the name search and which boxes do you fill in....all of them? ....and then it gives you variations of the surname? Thanks Victoria

Spent ten mins looking at the search feature and reading what you all put here, thought I was going mad, what were you all on about as its no different, realise now its not working - good joke!! Hope its back on soon.
