Hi Mike Hoping to catch you for a look up in 1861 again. Am following my Warrens around and am looking for an Alfred Robinson 25 who maybe married to a Sophia 22, they seem to have taken over the house in Foundry Road, this is the house you found on the 1861 census with 2 families next to each other. They are both from Leicester and stay within St. Margarets parish. Not sure if Sophia is a Powell! Her full name is Sophia Maria, middle name is missed off one census. Elaine |

Hi Bev, Just curious as to where you live, I have to confess that although born in Leicester, once my Nan died in 1972 I had no family to stay with in the hols so Leicester is unfamiliar to me now and after moving a bit I am now in Nottingham. Hopefully will relearn Leicester a bit now. Hi Mike Thanks for that, Thomas Powell is the name of Mary Ann Warren's father, is there not a head of the household at no.26 and why does it say visitor 18 mths? (you had better pop 2 prozac) Where do you think Fredrick Warren 3 is ??? No. 26 stays in the family as later this is where the Worris' are looking after William, Susannah and Martha (none of whom have married) and 2 of the Warren children Elaine |

Hi Mike, Keep the prozac to hand please!!! The Worris' are from Sheffield but that's for another day. Wondered if you could have a look on the 1861 census to see if William Warren 37 from Nothampton is around, he is the boatmaster/boatman I mentioned before married to Mary Ann Warren 24 from Leicester, am not sure if there is a son William Warren who could be 1 Elaine |

Thanks Mike, That's just what I needed. Preston Brook is in Cheshire, found them in 1871 there and one of the addresses on a marriage between a Powell and a Warren finds one of the children back in Leicester with possibly another brother who I had not found before, all at one of the addresses you gave me at the start of this. Another surname has popped up from this - Worris- so lots to do but will have to wait as back to work tomorrow (probably should say Morris!!!). Thanks ever so Elaine |

Greeting's Again Elaine.... I've just given you a link on your other thread which will hopefully answer your enquiry re Webb wavering...... Boatmaster.... Not too sure but I think he either owned the boat.... or He /She had total responsibility for the crew. . . . And I've see pictures were the whole family are employed on board.... (lock gates, horse handlers, loading and unloading) Is " Preston Brook " in Leicestershire ? MIKE. |

Hi all Can someone tell me what an elastic web weaver actually was please? Also found part of my family on a boat at a place called Preston Brook whilst a couple of other siblings were with family elsewhere and even another child on another boat. My rels occupation then was boatmaster not just boatman. Can you tell me exactly what that was and did family travel with them while they worked? Elaine |

Maybe Mary was not married when Lucy came along…… That’s why Mary didn’t give the Name of the father then ? Or maybe he was away at the Wars at this time ( Boer & Sudan Wars) ? And there was not a census in between the know dates we have. So we’ll not know how long Lucy has been with Joshua. ? Maybe Mary married at a latter time ? I’ll have a look on the 1901. latter on today and see if I can find anything ? …… MIKE…………Time to Blows out the candle…… <3 |
