Take a break from the doing this! the only time I take a break is either walking along the landing to go the loo.. or Sunday afternoon walking round the cemetaries, I have to admit its lovely and quiet in there and you can think a bit better. Ive even tried to speaking to the dead hoping they can help me, I have probably made more dead friends than living ones. And as my dad who is 81 is mainly my source of information, dad and I are contemplating holding a Seance to see if I can get in touch with my great grandfather, that how bad it is. |

Well i'm chuffed i'm not alone!! I to have the back-ache, leg ache and the desire to hunt dead people ha,ha. Did'nt let the cat out of the bag untill Christmas when i presented a couple of rellies with a copy of the family tree, you know the rellies who pride themselves on 'knowing all about the family' only for them to realise that they were way off the mark, with your help of course.LoL :)) I too most of the time 'Sneak' onto the pc at work, i've got it down to a fine art in minimising the screen also, another excuse is "Just gonna check my messages, only be a sec" ha,ha. Now the word is out i'm having friends - freinds wanting me to help them with an elusive missing rellie or skelaton that's rattling away, but don't want their famillies to know they are checking it out. I've declined as my own addiction is bad enough, i'd never be off the pc at all if i obliged. Never thought i'd be an anorak though, feel like a naughty kid sometimes looking over my shoulder just incase HA, HA :)) Anyway just rambling now, i'm sure we will come across each other during our adictive hobby, wish everbody luck with your searches. To take a break away from the computer yesterday I spent three hours in the local registry office confirming dates then another half hour sitting in the office waiting for copies of certificates because I was too impatient for them to put them in the post. I have also talked my friend into taking me to the village my g.g.g.grandfather and family was born so that I can walk where they walked . Addicted... I think I must be mad lol Kay |

In a word "No!". You would never hear the end to it. Best leave him feeling a bit guilty and grateful you havent gone mad at him! KAT from Essex - what you mean, you have stirrups fixed to the sides of your computer desk? What a brilliant idea. |

Goodness gracious me ! Is it that time already........... I have to make a confession and the only person I can trust and confide in is YOU. My husband doesn't understand me, says I have a problem...... I must confess, the time the NEFF induction hob blew up was my fault (I was distracted, you know what I mean) but I didn't tell my husband and when the time came for him to cook, he was distraught when black smoke billowed from it ! I let him think it was his fault !!!! Should I confess ? |

Has anyone else had an imaginary conversation with one of their ancestors.................. Caught myself trying to explain television to my G G G Grandmother the other day.......... |

The sad thing is (apart from the other 101 things) that I actually get excited if I find someone elses rellie on ancestry for them now! And yes, I dream census forms and parish registers too - I wonder if they are trying to get through to us as I often dream I am talking to my dear mum who I lost 17 years ago about all the progress Im making. Or perhaps its only her who would listen (well, the dog gets it too). Hey I wonder what they would put on our death certs if we all pop off from exhaustion or thrombosis due to tree researching? |

Yvonne, if only I had such faith in Derek Accorah! O.K. Here goes........ Hi my name's Janet and I'm an addict too :-)) For 22 years I have lived with a Radio enthusiast. Through osmosis I can tell you if any three or four letter number is a medium wave (khz) frequency off the top of my head. Now on his brief sojourns to the bathroom or kitchen to refuel he just sighs and shouts "ANORAK" at me. How dare he! Seriously though, if you are suffering from aching lower legs keep making circles with your feet. It stimulates the circulation preventing blood and lymphatic fluid from pooling in the lower leg. I can't stress too much the importance of having a mouse mat with a wrist rest either. I used to spend time on here without one and found my right hand/wrist aching. Now I have a rest the aching has long gone. So thats my healthy tips for surfing. Of course once I've found if Percival Makeres who died in 1515 is one of my Macaree's I'll try and give up. (Yeah, who am I kidding!!!!!!!!) |

I think I qualify for your club too!!!! up all hours going round in circles, hearing things, wierd dreams of my departed grandparents (who I'm sure are sending me subliminal messages from beyond the grave!) I now have my mother-in-law hooked & so much so that father-in-law has banned us from speeking about it in his presence!!! Oh well at least I'm doing something constructive & a bit of the old 'brain gym' never did anyone any harm did it? |
