Brian, Do you have any other names (eg.parents)? I have had a quick look on the 1801-1837 marriage index. Have found lots of Garner`s from all over Norfolk,( but nothing that could be shortened to NK) Why not ask for a look up on the 1851 census, or have you tried the 1837 Online? If you can come up with more info I will try and help. Frances |

Hi Brian, I live in Norfolk and cannot think of anywhere that would have that abbreviation. My guess is that it is a shortened form of Norfolk. What names and dates do you have? Frances |

Brian, Is this from a census? I think that means the enumerator wasn't given the village. Could be the person was away at the time and the wife didn't know which village he was born in. Crista |

N K usually means "not known". |

Could it possibly be an abbreviation for Norfolk? Or Not Known where in Norfolk? Or a third one - is there somewhere in the county that can be shortened to NK? Paul |
