I'm 44 and became interested when I visited this site via FriendsReunited, put a few names on, and was contacted by someone who turned out to be a relative with loads of interesting information from a family bible...that was in 2003 and I've been hooked ever since!

Im 21, started looking last few days, and have no idea where to start!!

I am 55 and started about 18 months ago. I find it very frustrating but rewarding. It is addictive and have all my family involved now.

47 and interested since a school project YEARS ago..........But started seriously June last year. My partner 45 started his in January this year in self defence!!!! :) Chris

45 in April. Although interested for several years i had no idea where to begin so just thought one day!! I really want to give my children what we never had, a sense of their history, who they are and where they came from. Trouble is the facts i have found out do not tie in with a lot of what we were told!! Not that we were ever told much. The one person who could help is now no longer fit to recall details. Well one day eventually came about 2 years ago, then I took 1 year out due to other commitmetns, (once i get sat in front of the computer checking links and reading these boards i loose track of time). Hope i get finished before i loose all sense of reason!! Joan

Well, I don`t know if I`m the oldest but I had my 80th birthday last month. I`m addicted to the internet (especially genealogy) and also do surveys for YouGov etc. etc. Housework is a lot less interesting than finding new ancestors. Still hoping to find someone famous (or infamous) to add to our tree. Now having to use my left-hand on the mouse .....have RSI caused by over-use with the right-hand!!! Alice

Hi All I'm 61 & first started back in 1979 when I & my children spent a half term hol in St Catherines House & trawling around the Acton/ Kensington areas looking for my fathers family. Had to give it up when it got too expensive. Then I found that cousins on my mothers side had got back to the 1600s & we had two great family parties with the descendants of my 2xgr grandfather Peter James Bishop. A busy life & lack of funds meant I couldn't get back to my Dads family until my for my 60th my children bought me a computer with plenty of memory[my old one had hardly any] & now there's no stopping me. I'm not sure I should have logged on to this site though! Having hit a bit of a wall, I'm finding it more addictive than the research. Help,all I can think about is genealogy & I keep doing silly things at work, or is that my age. Nice talking to you Vivienne

I'm 57 and finally began to seriously investigate my history 5 years ago after my father died. Am now trying to go full steam ahead on my side of the family whilst my mother - 87 - is still alive and can reel off names of her distant relatives as though they dropped in for tea yesterday! My husband's rellies will have to wait awhile. How I wish I could be made redundant so I could research family history full-time. In the meantime I have to carry on the day job which is actually researching and analysing the current Census data so I get to use the Census over two centuries. Trouble is I keep making typos at work putting 1901 Census when I mean 1991 or 2001! LOL Sue in Berks
