Hi. I think that the head of a family I'm missing on the 1871 census may have been working on the construction of the Settle-Carlisle railway. I know that a lot these workers lived in the equivalent of shanty towns. Are these recorded on Censuses, and if so, does anyone know where, please. Or where I might find some other info. Thanks Helen |
