Hi Alice I have an ancestor who was a shipwright, so far in every census from 1861-1881 the family was at a different address.Lived in Lambeth,Bermondsey, Shadwell. Children were born in Lambeth, Shadwell, Ratcliff and Stepney. Still can't find them in 1851 yet as well as 1891. they certainly moved around abit. Trudi

One line of mine moved lock stock and barrel to London in the 1890s from Stalham Norfolk. mind you they seemed to of done a lot of moving as the father, my GG/grandad tended to do Moon lights becuse of Debtes.

both sides of my dads family moved from yorkshire abt 1840s on to Manchester, then on to Liverpool in 1870s. One side of the family lived in the same street for 100 years moving to 3 different houses when the one they lived in was knocked down or bombed. Sadly my family started moving south in the 70/80s my parents being the last to move south. I guess we all moved for the same reason as my ancestors WORK. History repeating its self Julie

My rellies moved from Oxfordshire into London in the 1850's. I don't know why - they just did!!!
