Thomas and Margaret Trice both born abt 1808. Margaret died Portsea Island 1895...not sure if Thomas died there too, cant find death anywhere. They were not originally from Hampshire, found them there on 1871 1881 censuses. I cant get access to 1891 census to see if Margaret was a widow or not by then. Vickie |

GOOD BOOKS Has anyone come across any good local history books about any Hampshire villages? You know the kind I mean - the ones that mention the people of old, legends, memories and gossip? If so, please recommend them here. Thanks Lyla |

Two books that I took out of the libray was. Memories of Bitterne and More Memories of Bitterne, by Irene Pilson. and it was about all the local people and the second book I actualy found a picture of Great Great Grandma, wasnt sure at first so contacted someone that helped with the book and found out it was. And there was a story of her husband and Children. I kept that book for over six months then finaly took it back. Will try and order it from Amazon but I couldnt afford it at the time. |

Hi Debbie Lucky you! That's exactly the type of book I mean. Wish I had rellies from Bitterne! By reading the book titles you can't always tell what sort of information they contain so it is really helpful to read other people's reviews. Lyla (hoping someone has read an interesting book about Alton, Froyle, Pamber or Holybourne) |
