Just an idea at the moment, but could we think about using the forum to share information gathered on different trades and professions? In many families, the same trades were followed through the generations and families in the same business frequently intermarried. Anyone out there with London coachbuilders, painters and trimmers in their tree? My Frost family were curriers (leather workers) apprenticed to George Southey of Chenies Street. They are linked to the Heymans who were painters, trimmers and harness makers, working for coachbuilding companies including Couze in Long Acre, Covent Garden. |
