Hi Lou This is what they say on their website: The National Archives welcomes you and we provide full access to public areas. There is a lift to all floors, and the building is wheelchair-friendly. There are toilets for both holders and non-holders of RADAR keys. If you go to their website, under the section 'Visit us' they have fuller details if you have any particular difficulties. The most difficult place to negociate is probably the restaurant, but the staff are friendly and helpful. |

Hi Brenda Just had a thought about how Kew is laid out (stairs, steps etc) and how is it for disabled access? Is it all on one floor and if you need to move between floors, are there lifts or is it stairs? Lou |

Hi Ann We will meet up sooner or later! I think Natalie's idea on another thread of GR badges, to recognise fellow members in record offices, was a really good one. There might be a friend off the boards, sitting at the next table at lunch, and you'd never know.... |

Hi Fi I'll put you down on the list. Housework seems very tame in comparison to looking at records. Tracy The tour should give you an idea of the sorts of records they hold and how they would be of use. Kew holds different sorts of records to what is available in County Record Offices. To search successfully, you need to have a good idea in advance of which records you need and exact dates. Some records are vast and you can spend ages looking without finding anything if you're not careful. Everybody was really friendly and helpful last Saturday, both members and staff, so it is a good day out, even if you don't find anything on a first visit. |

Hi everyone. At work, so can't make detailed replies. Please note that TNA double booked, so date is now 30 July. Hope that still suits everyone. Brenda (Advantage is that we're not competing with a party of 49!) |

Brenda Can I book a provisional place? Will have to con the ex into having the boy but as long as I'm not doing anything which could be taken as 'enjoying' myself I should be OK ;) Any suggestions on what I 'could' be doing that day gratefully received! :) Chris |

I'd love to go to Kew, have been to FRC several times but have always been a bit daunted by the prospect of Kew! A visit just to get bearings etc. would be helpful. Any time (Sat or weekday) except 1st or 2nd July. Sheila x |

Thanks for that, Shelli. I checked June's list and abandoned my first notion of 25th June as that clashed with Steedie's do, but I confess I'd forgotten that Maz was arranging something as well. I've emailed her. |
